Noakhali Medical College Hospital

About Hospital

Noakhali Medical College Hospital is a government medical college hospital located in Begumganj, Chowmuhani, Noakhali district, on roughly 26.15 acres of land in the Mirwarispur area. It is the teaching hospital attached to Noakhali Medical College, and is academically affiliated with Chittagong Medical University.

The medical college was established in 2008, as part of a government plan to open new medical colleges in Noakhali and Cox's Bazar, each with an initial intake of 50 students. It initially began educational activities from within a part of the local general hospital before shifting to its own dedicated campus in Chowmuhani. The institution was formerly named Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College, after the noted politician Abdul Malek Ukil, but in October 2024, it was renamed back to Noakhali Medical College as part of a nationwide effort to remove individual names from public medical colleges in favour of names referencing their communities.

The hospital currently operates with a capacity of 250 beds. The exact day and month of its original establishment beyond the general 2008 timeframe could not be confirmed - please verify.
